Learn More Seven Hills President Dr. David Jordan Requests Livable Wages for DSP’s from MA and RI Governors June 17, 2020 I have sent both Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker and Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo specific letters calling for their extension of salary enhancements to honor not only the current heroic efforts of our staff–but to honor the profession of direct care by paying a living wage. I will continue to advocate publicly on your behalf so that your work with our most vulnerable people is recognized for it’s importance in our society. This is a time to speak up for what is right and just. I ask that you consider personally asking both Governor Baker and Governor Raimondo that they maintain pay at the pandemic level by contacting your respective state legislators. Ask them to personally reach out to the governors requesting that they keep the pay as is. The doctors, nurses, allied health professionals, EMT’s, firefighters and police continue to rise to the challenges we face, and we are awed by their performance and are forever grateful. But there is another group of heroes we must add to the list to thank – our Human Services Direct Support Professionals. It is time to sound the call to recognize and honor the valuable work of our DSP’s and stop the inadequacies of reimbursement for this workforce.
